With the highly anticipated Eddie Hall vs Thor Björnsson fight now confirmed to take place in March , prep for the big night is in full swing. So Eddie Hall has updated fans with a new video showing how training is going. The fight is roughly seven weeks away, and strength and conditioning is still at the top of his list. Good shoulder hit, good leg hit, good torso hit. Sound like a hard workout. Let’s get stuck in.

And help is on hand for Eddie, so he isn’t toughing it out by himself. Patrick and Joshua are by his side to get him through the session, providing moral support and a bit of banter.

At the start of the video, I was expecting to see Eddie getting pumped up for his session with some heavy metal or something to really get the blood pumping. I can say with some certainty that I was not expecting to hear Adele’s Someone Like You blasting through the speakers.

The Workout:

If you aren’t too alarmed by the noises Eddie makes at 1:30, then you should manage to get through the full session. If the noises put you off, find the workout here:

  • Slow ball slams (15 reps)
  • Plank position, moving the kettlebell side to side (10 reps on each side)
  • Supermans (10 reps)
  • Bulgarian split squats — work up on the weight
  • Landmine presses — work up on the weight

Time for a protein and banana break — got to stay fuelled for his session.

  • Incline bench press — start light and work up to a hard three reps of 205kg
  • X-bar deadlifts with bands — six reps, working your way up
  • Banded rotations in lunge stance
  • Ball slams
  • Burpees
  • Iron neck — put weight on your neck and do five rotations each way

And if you think Eddie’s day ended there, you’re wrong. It was only just beginning.

  • Cryogenic chamber
  • Six rounds of fighting
  • Physio
  • Hot and cold tubs
  • Foam rolling, stretching

Take Home Message

The countdown is on, the wait is almost over — Eddie vs Thor now has a date. There really isn’t long to wait now. And it’s a good job given the intensity of the training. Although it looks like Eddie’s enjoying himself, so that’s all that matters.

“It’s a constant uphill battle, but I'm enjoying it.”
