Bad taste
3I'm an optimist. I switched from vegetarianism to veganism recently and had ran out of whey protein, so I decided to give the pea protein isolate a try. I read the reviews about the bad taste of this product, but assumed the reviews were exaggerated. Because there was a sale, I bought 2.5kg. Curse my optimism!! This is probably one of the worst tasting things to ever enter my mouth. Truly horrible with a bad aftertaste that stays in your mouth. The powder is fine (a dust cloud erupts from the bag when you open it) and smells like fish food. HOWEVER - it is well priced, vegan and has good nutritional credentials. I can't complain too much. I've tried mixed it with a few things - none were good, but some made the shake drinkable. Cocoa and maple syrup has been the most palatable. Squash and water was okay. I tried cinnamon and maple syrup but that had no masking effect whatsoever. If you mix with water the powder dissolves well, but if you mix with almond milk/rice milk etc it forms a paste unless you add a large volume. My best advice is to down it all as fast as you can and chase with something to cover the aftertaste. I haven't tried the soy alternative, but in hindsight I would have chosen that product instead. Unless that one is awful too. In which case, try this!Goes Well With:Cocoa and maple syrup

Sorry guys at My Protein but it's awful
1I normally buy another brand that I mix with some maple syrup, banana etc and I could drink it all day. Decided to try My Protein as there was a very good discount. It's awful, there's a really bad after taste, almost chemical, its way too thick and made me look about 7 months pregnant after drinking it. I was uncomfortable all night, slept terrible too. Where are you guys sourcing the pea protein from? It's really bad! I've 2.5 kilos of it and it's for the bin... pity...Goes Well With:The bin

creamy split pea soup
5I tried several different types of proteins (whey, hemp, rice, pea) but this pea protein is by far the best for me. When I started with protein shakes I preferred flavoured ones but by time I started to lean forward natural, unflavoured whey then tried the other alternatives. I love it's taste (I know it's not for everybody) it mixes very well. My latest "recipe" is to add a couple pinch of salt and some ground white pepper in it and mix it with warm (not hot) water. (I add 1 1/2 or 2 scoops of protein in a 7dl blender) Seriously I could drink it all day. It's a tasty thick cream of pea. :) yumm Would never change it back to whey again.Goes Well With:warm water, salt, white pepper

Pretty good stuff!
4I've been looking for a decent protein for a while and at first was put off by others claiming the protein tasted awful. After I looking other product reviews I realised that most protein powders have some amount of negativity regarding either taste or texture, so went ahead and ordered some! Anywho: this stuff is great in smoothies/shakes. Cannot taste it at all. I don't reccomend you use it for anything hot though as that does intensify whatever taste is there. (Tried it in oats: just no!) chocolate flav drops/ flavourings cover a multitude of sins if the taste does bother you. I've found if I mix this with a soy yoghurt (1/2 scoop therabouts) that fruits like raspberries and strawberries cover the taste entirely - plus v macro friendly. Also agree with previous review: if you struggle, just pinch your nose and down it :) Goes Well With:Smoothie/shake : (banana, chocolate flav drops, vanilla almond milk) Fresh zingy fruits (all da berries)
